With the help of the Independent Sector, a consortium of charities and foundations, the Senate Finance Commitee launched an investigation on non-profit abuse, fraud, and bad conduct. Earlier this year, however, a new rule on what donators of used vehicles can claim on their taxes took effect. The result? A reduction of donations by nearly half--- leaving a multitude of non-profits that depend on funds from these donations on the curb.
